The production locations in Cugir and Sebeș, Romania, including Star Transmission’s headquarters in Cugir and the Star Assembly site in Sebeș, are wholly owned subsidiaries of Mercedes-Benz AG and an important part of the global Mercedes-Benz Cars production network.
The Cugir plant specializes in producing gears, shafts, high-pressure pipes, and mechanically machined components for engines, transmissions, and steering systems. It also has a technology center that includes prototype production. The Sebeș plant is an internationally active automotive supplier for transmissions. From 2025, the Sebeș plant will begin ramping up production of electric drives for new fully electric EQ models.
