Deputy Store Manager - Worldwear Johannesburg

Purpose and overall relevance for the organization

Ensures that overall sales and profitability goals for the store are met. Provides training to all associates, assists the store manager in staff development and succession planning, and oversees daily store operations in compliance with adidas retail policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Support the store manager by implementing and maintaining a staff structure that minimizes payroll expenses and increases productivity using sales ratio performance balance and monthly planning.
• Assist with evaluating employee performance, identifying talent and training needs, and handling employee relations matters.
• Complete or assist with documentation for applicants, new hires, and payroll.
• Use customer service, training, educational tools, and communication to develop staff in line with adidas retail goals.
• Maintain personnel files, confidentiality, company systems, procedures, and legal and safety compliance.
• Develop skills and experience through daily interaction with store management and external training.
• Ensure adherence to adidas visual presentation guidelines and implement security procedures, including shrinkage control and safety inspections.
• Assist with merchandising, advertising, and promotional programs.
• Resolve customer complaints.
• Assist with maintaining inventory levels by communicating product overages and shortages to the store manager.
• Assist with management systems for planning, organization, control, and auditing of store operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively with customers and employees.
• Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and other figures.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and point-of-sale systems.
• Fluent written and oral English communication skills.
• Good judgment, decision-making, presentation, supervision, and organizational skills.
• Ability to attend work regularly and predictably.

Key relationships

Consumers, peers, key retail support functions including Marketing Activations, Visual Merchandising, Operations, vendors, and support functions.

Minimum qualifications

• Matric Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
• More than 4 years of retail experience.
