Deputy Store Manager - Hillfox Power Centre Johannesburg

Purpose and overall relevance for the organization

Ensures that overall sales and profitability goals for the store are met. Provides training to associates, assists the store manager with staff development and succession planning, and oversees daily store operations in compliance with adidas retail policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Support the store manager by implementing and maintaining a staff structure that minimizes payroll expenses and increases productivity.
• Assist with evaluating employee performance, identifying talent and training needs, and handling employee relations matters.
• Complete or assist with documentation for applicants, new hires, and payroll.
• Use customer service, training, educational tools, and communication to develop staff in line with adidas retail goals.
• Maintain personnel files, confidentiality, company systems, and operating procedures.
• Ensure compliance with legal statutes, safety guidelines, visual presentation standards, and security procedures.
• Assist with merchandising, advertising, and promotional programs.
• Resolve customer complaints.
• Help maintain inventory levels by communicating product overages and shortages to the store manager.
• Assist with planning, organizing, controlling, and auditing store operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before customers or employees.
• Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and related figures.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and point-of-sale systems.
• Effective written and oral English communication skills.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to supervise others and present to moderate-sized groups.
• Ability to attend work regularly and predictably.

Required education and experience

• Matric Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
• 4+ years of retail experience.
