Job Overview

The Credit Dispute Investigator researches, investigates, and responds to consumer credit disputes in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), documented policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate disputes received through consumer e-OSCAR concerning credit information furnished by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
  • Review account records, payment histories, contractual documentation, bankruptcy information, fraud indicators, and other relevant data.
  • Determine the accuracy of reported information, submit dispute responses to credit bureaus, and ensure compliance with FCRA requirements.
  • Process identity theft block notifications and review supporting documentation, including police reports and identity theft affidavits.
  • Review requests to remove previously established identity theft blocks and coordinate with fraud investigation teams and consumer reporting agencies.
  • Research and resolve escalated internal inquiries related to credit reporting in partnership with Customer Relations, Collections, Fraud Control, Legal, and Operations.
  • Investigate disputes received directly from consumers and draft customer responses communicating investigation results.
  • Investigate hard inquiry disputes involving unauthorized, inaccurate, fraudulent, or identity-theft-related inquiries.

Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years of overall work experience.
  • Preferred experience includes 2 years in business-general or customer service and 1 year of credit dispute experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Analytical and PC skills required; Corporate Mainframe knowledge is relevant.
