Job Overview
Manages the safety, productivity, training, morale, and security of a production group. Monitors production and meets established production and quality targets. Possesses strong expertise in multiple technical work areas. Directly responsible for Team Leaders and indirectly responsible for Team Members.
Responsibilities
- Acts as the technical and disciplinary lead of the group.
- Oversees, organizes, and coordinates all work content of the group.
- Motivates, supports, develops, and challenges team members to their optimal potential.
- Manages communication flow to the team and management.
- Drives continuous improvement for production processes, efficiency, product quality, environment, and ergonomics.
- Identifies trouble areas and resolves issues.
- Administers company policies and procedures.
- Owns and manages personnel activities, including evaluations, coaching, counseling, resource planning, and team building.
- Coordinates schedules and workflow, including vacation, shifts, qualifications, and schedules.
- Provides feedback to involved departments to improve overall plant performance.
- Prepares data-based reports and presents findings to management and others.
- Introduces measures for positive employee development and resolves complex employee issues.
- Resolves varied and non-routine issues and may order materials or spare parts.
- Facilitates and participates in regularly scheduled meetings.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Supervises multiple team leaders.
- Has responsibility for typically 30–50 associates in an automotive facility.
- Participates in project management and workshop activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma and 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desired.
- Automotive industry experience is a plus.
- Body shop, welding, and supervisory experience are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills are required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and root cause analysis is required.
- Experience with MIG, MAG, spot, and laser welding technologies is preferred.
