Purpose

As a member of the store management team, assists the Store Manager in ensuring all operational, business, and personnel targets are achieved for the store. Oversees the daily operation of the store and assures compliance with all company policies and government legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the Store Manager in managing day-to-day operations and meeting key performance indicators and profit and loss expectations.
  • Communicates and demonstrates adidas brand values, attitude, and culture.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of corporate programs, initiatives, strategies, policies, and seasonal programs.
  • Assists with succession, recruiting, hiring, training, performance feedback, coaching, and team development.
  • Promotes a high-performance culture through clear expectations, accountability, goals, and effective team communication.
  • Supports training and execution across business operations, sales and customer service, and visual merchandising.
  • Assists with recordkeeping for applicants, new hires, payroll, performance appraisals, salary reviews, counselling, disciplinary actions, and employee separations.
  • Monitors competition, inventory levels, styling selections, wage costs, expenses, cash management, shrink control, store security, and POS system integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with employment standards, health and safety requirements, company policies, visual merchandising guidelines, and retail standards.
  • Maintains the building and premises in a safe, organized, and clean manner.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Store Manager and District Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient retail operational, selling, fiscal, and business management skills.
  • Coaching and talent management skills, with the ability to prioritize and allocate resources effectively.
  • Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, data collection, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and additional hours during peak sales periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 12 kg and occasionally lift or move up to 25 kg.

Qualifications

College or University degree and 1 year of retail experience, preferably in the sporting apparel and footwear industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior management and keyed experience preferred.

Health and Safety Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep the workplace safe and orderly and report accidents, injuries, contraventions, unsafe conditions, hazards, and defective equipment to a supervisor or manager.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and comply with applicable occupational health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Follow established procedures for handling hazardous materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Operate equipment and perform work in a manner that does not endanger oneself or others.
