Purpose
The EHS Assistant Manager will partner with the DC Operations teams in Suzhou to execute company health and safety policies, ensure compliance with applicable company and local regulations, promote continuous improvement initiatives, achieve company health and safety targets, and reduce potential safety and occupational health and ergonomic risks in daily distribution center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute written safety programs and policies according to IMS standards and local regulations.
- Establish and maintain records and documentation in compliance with local government and ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards.
- Drive implementation of the site Health & Safety accountability program and support departments in fulfilling their responsibilities.
- Maintain the site Health & Safety legal register and compliance assessment process.
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control processes.
- Develop training matrices and content, and deliver health and safety orientation and awareness sessions.
- Facilitate safety committee and management review meetings.
- Analyze safety metrics, incident trends, and near misses to identify high-risk areas.
- Lead accident investigations and perform root-cause analysis.
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits, track corrective actions, and ensure timely closure.
- Intervene in and escalate unsafe acts and conditions.
- Oversee personal protective equipment programs.
- Ensure vendors, contractors, and third-party employees comply with company and local standards.
- Provide H&S guidance for construction, renovation, expansion, equipment installation, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain emergency preparedness plans and coordinate drills and exercises.
- Support regulatory inspections, external audits, and certification activities.
- Plan and implement healthcare programs, including health lectures and annual health checkups.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned to support the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, occupational health, and ergonomic standards and regulations affecting operations.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience.
- Experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems and/or 5S, lean principles, and process improvement in an operational environment.
- Distribution center or manufacturing EHS experience with contract and temporary employees at a site of at least 800 people preferred.
- Certified Safety Engineer and/or ISO 14000/9000/18000 systems auditor certification preferred.
