Make an impact
As a Senior Java Developer, you will design, develop, and optimize modern software applications that meet clients' needs. You will work within an Agile or DevOps team throughout the application lifecycle, from analysis and technical design to development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
You will build new Java solutions and contribute to the modernization of existing applications, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability. You will also contribute to architectural decisions, technical improvements, and sustainable solutions for complex application challenges.
What you will do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications.
- Build backend components and services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs.
- Contribute to the modernization of existing applications.
- Develop microservices and API-based integrations where relevant.
- Translate business requirements into high-quality, future-proof technical solutions.
- Monitor and improve application quality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Write and maintain automated tests.
- Contribute to CI/CD processes and automation of build, test, and deployment activities.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, Product Owners, and other stakeholders.
- Discuss requirements, technical decisions, and improvement proposals with clients.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Java software development within an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience designing, developing, and integrating REST APIs.
- Knowledge of microservices and API-based integrations.
- Experience with relational databases and database access from Java applications.
- Knowledge of software design and relevant architectural principles.
- Experience with automated testing, version control, and CI/CD.
- Practical knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes; OpenShift experience is an advantage.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or DevOps environments.
- Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
- Frontend experience with Angular or React is a plus.
- Interest in Kotlin or Quarkus is appreciated.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and ownership skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
