Job Overview
This Procurement Advisor role is located at Mercedes-Benz USA, headquartered in Sandy Springs, GA. The selected candidate will lead the procurement strategy and serve as the project manager for the end-to-end RFP process for selected commodities and categories. This position is part of the global Mercedes-Benz Procurement and Supplier Management division (RD-MP), responsible for the procurement of non-production materials and services.
The selected candidate will consider new and creative sourcing strategies, work with cross-functional teams across Mercedes-Benz to gather and document business needs, and evaluate market conditions to drive local and national sourcing strategies and optimize total cost of ownership. This position focuses on strategic procurement with the goal of delivering the best price value for Mercedes-Benz.
Responsibilities
Strategic Commodity Procurement Strategy Development (40%)
- Lead sourcing strategy for assigned commodities and categories across Mercedes-Benz.
- Develop complex national sourcing strategy plans, advanced negotiation designs and solid contracting methodologies.
- Conduct periodic national contract portfolio reviews with internal business partners and executive management to aggregate demand and leverage spend.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and introduce new supplier technologies and advancements in design, materials, services and process improvements.
Project Management (40%)
- Serve as project manager for end-to-end RFP processes for assigned commodities.
- Lead and host RFQs and consult with internal business partners on supplier selection.
- Deploy advanced negotiation designs and develop project-specific contracting strategies and price control mechanisms.
- Aggregate and synthesize project information, including supply markets, technology trends and cost drivers, to present sourcing recommendations to executive management.
- Work with Legal to bring contracts to execution readiness.
Process Compliance and Performance Management (20%)
- Consult with internal business partners on Mercedes-Benz policies and procurement processes, providing training support where necessary.
- Forecast and meet RD-MP key performance indicators, including savings, efficiency and compliance targets, and ensure proper reporting.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct supplier performance reviews, identify performance gaps, establish improvement expectations and lead action plans or internal escalations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in accounting, business administration, business management, communications, economics, finance, information technology, international business or relations, technical management, mathematics, management information systems, statistics, technology or a related area.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in project management, contracting, negotiation and direct production material procurement may be considered.
- A minimum of five years of total experience in areas including accounting, administration, business, project management, finance, integrated supply chain management, market research or contract negotiation/legal.
- Ability to analyze data, establish facts, identify trends and variances, and integrate information from varied sources.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with internal business partners in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
- Strong self-direction, self-management, professionalism and integrity.
- Customer-focused attitude, advanced process understanding and attention to detail.
- Written and verbal German skills are beneficial.
