Advanced Project Quotation Assessment Engineer

Tasks

Build up and continuously optimise the R&D project quotation and cost assessment model for vehicle projects based on solid hardware and software engineering understanding, including ADAS and smart cockpit systems, in terms of ROI and input from sales, carline and project stakeholders. Be responsible for R&D project evaluation based on the assessment model to drive project initialization decisions.

1. Lead the function of business case estimation during the project initiation phase, integrating hardware and software development investment, including licensing fees, chip and sensor BOM, OTA maintenance costs and internal engineering costs, with sales assumptions and pricing strategies, and provide ROI analysis.
2. Lead multi-scenario analysis on key variables of intelligent projects, including chip procurement cost, software licensing model and penetration rate assumptions, to quantify the impact of major risks on project returns.
3. Support assessment of technical requirements to deliver hardware architecture, system architecture, mechanical concept, component packaging and vehicle interface connectors.
4. Lead project business case reviews and management confirmation, including hardware and software solution feasibility and quotation or cost evaluation.
5. After project approval decisions, hand over the approved budget baseline and financial assumptions to the executing finance team to ensure consistent data coverage before and after project initialization.
6. Build and manage the financial model for R&D projects, including intelligent driving, smart cockpit and in-vehicle software, and establish standardized evaluation templates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in electrical and electronic engineering or engineering economics.
• At least 6 years of automotive work experience in electrical design, vehicle software development, automotive industry R&D project finance or supplier chain finance controlling. OEM experience is preferred.
• Ability to understand the cost structure of hardware and software R&D and communicate effectively with technical teams.
• Experience with multi-SoC brand and type system design; full-stack software architecture including BSW, middleware, drivers, applications and algorithms; vehicle digital product requirements management; system engineering; project management; vehicle digital platform upgrades; and cross-domain system leadership.
• Knowledge of analog and digital circuits, Ethernet, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, tuner, audio, SerDes, amplifiers, PCB layout, low-emission layout, CAD and CAE tools, and hardware architecture design.
• Proficiency in Excel financial modeling and familiarity with investment evaluation methods such as NPV and IRR.
• Fluent English, good communication skills, eagerness to learn and a proactive working style.
