Position Summary
The JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro is partnering with the Rouxbe Cooking School to offer culinary associates engaging online training opportunities to help grow their careers. Through Rouxbe's self-paced online platform and culinary training curriculum, Marriott associates with all levels of culinary experience will have access to hundreds of lessons they can apply to their jobs.
Prepare breads and pastries, including preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as appropriate. Review the production sheet to understand the variety of baked goods to be produced daily. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
- Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program compliance.
- Keep the Chef informed of excess food items for planning daily specials.
- Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
- Follow food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures.
- Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and report issues to management.
- Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Serve as a department role model or mentor.
- Follow company safety and security policies, report accidents and unsafe work conditions, and complete safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, protect confidential information, and safeguard company assets.
- Develop positive working relationships and support the team in reaching common goals.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Work over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and perform bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and overhead reaching.
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
- Related work experience: At least 2 years.
- Supervisory experience: None required.
- License or certification: None.
